Golf Course Internships

The internship program at Bidermann will take you through the brunt of the golf season in the Mid-Atlantic region. The climatic conditions of the region make it a challenging experience for your career. As a team member, you will be mentored and become skilled at achieving the conditions that are a requirement for a private golf club.  Above all, you must keep a keen eye for detail.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Learning to operate all types of equipment used on a golf course.
  • Achieve a fair couse set-up in accordance with the rules of Golf.
  • Understanding, learning and employing calibration techniques of sprayers and spreaders and making plant protection and fertilizer applications.
  • Updating records of chemical and fertilizer applications while maintaining control over inventory.
  • Repair basic to advanced irrigation problems and employing proper hand watering techniques of greens and tees to achieve proper root zone moisture.
Unique Opportunities
During your internship you will be an integral part of two tournaments:  The H.F. du Pont Memorial Tournament (Member/Guest) in June and the Bayard Sharp Memorial Tournament (Member/Member) in July.  You will be exposed to the intense preparation of the golf course for these two events in the heart of the golf season.

To round out your internship experience at Bidermann, we want to provide the student an opportunity to manage the staff to get a taste of what it takes to run a successful operation on a daily basis.  You, of course, will have the management team at your disposal to give you suggestions and guidance.
